The Annual Field Meeting will be based at Southampton University and visit a wide range of sites typifying extra-glacial landscapes in the surrounding regions, which have not been visited by the QRA since 1998 (Sussex) and 1987 (Hampshire and the Isle of Wight).
The field meeting will focus on the following themes:
- Evolution of the extra-glacial coastal / fluvial landscape over multiple cycles of sea-level change
- Dating and nature of the Palaeolithic occupation of the region
- Human use of the landscape during the Holocene
The itinerary for the meeting is as follows:
Saturday 4th April. Introductory evening lecture
Sunday 5th April. The West Sussex coastal plain
Themes: Coastal landscapes, Palaeolithic occupation
Sites: Selsey, Warblington, Boxgrove, Slindon

Monday 6th April. The Isle of Wight
Themes: Coastal and fluvial landscapes, Palaeolithic occupation
Sites: Priory Bay, Ventnor Late-glacial sequence, St George's Down
Coordinator: Francis Wenban-Smith
Tuesday 7th April. The Solent
Themes: Fluvial and estuarine landscapes, Palaeolithic occupation
Sites: Barton-on-Sea, Lepe (Stone Point interglacial deposits), Tom's Down

Wednesday 8th April. The New Forest
Theme: Human use of the landscape during the Holocene
Sites: Cranes Moor and Barrow Moor.
